Taking a Risk to Try Something New

This year my brother and I have been trying new things. This has been both fun and scary. We have liked some of the new things and not liked other things. 

One of those things we tried was flag football. I have loved playing flag football, especially with my softball teammates. We haven’t won any games, but we have learned a lot and made some great plays. One of my favorite memories was playing quarterback and passing for our only touchdown of the game! Even though we lost again, having that one moment to celebrate with my teammates was special. 

Now my brother hasn’t enjoyed flag football as much. It wasn’t exactly what he thought it would be. Mom and Dad said he had to finish the season because of his commitment to himself and the team, but they said he doesn’t have to play again next season.

There have been lots of times when I didn’t like something new, and that’s ok. I came back to it later and sometimes found that I still didn’t like it, or I did like it now. What I learned is that we try, and if we like it, great! If we don’t, that’s ok, but we try again later. You never know if your interests have changed along the way.
