Defying Gravity for Ourselves

R.C. and I are huge Wicked fans. We both love music and especially music that moves us, that has so much meaning on the surface, but also deeper meaning. 

I had the amazing opportunity to see the original Wicked cast on Broadway many years ago and took R.C. to see it when they were touring here in Nashville. As you can imagine, we were excited for the movie. R.C. even built the Wicked Lego set over her break and it is displayed proudly in her room.

There are so many lessons that Wicked teaches us and it has brought about many conversations between R.C. and me. Our top three lessons from Wicked that aligned beautifully with the GSD Factor Life are:

1. Being our true authentic selves – being who you are, using your voice, believing in yourself. If we do this, there is freedom for ourselves, resilience no matter what others say. There is a confidence beyond our comprehension. And yes, there are moments in life when we feel like we are flying and perhaps even defying gravity.
2. Define what your core beliefs are – once defined, ensure you align them to your personal or professional life. Do not waiver, do not compromise. Not to say that perhaps your beliefs may shift, but once defined, stand strong, resilient, and resolute. This ties back beautifully with being your true authentic self and the freedom that comes with that.
3. Be a good human – R.C. made sure that the Land of Rainbows in her GSD Factor Juniors book included just 3 simple rules: Be Kind, Be Loving, and Be Respectful. If we follow these simple yet powerful rules, it doesn’t allow for judgment or criticism of others.

I especially appreciate when the universe provides lessons or reminders that are sprinkled throughout our daily lives. It’s those gentle reminders for myself but also provides meaningful conversations that have with either my clients or tiny humans. 

We can often talk about things over and over but sometimes in a different context or delivery we all of a sudden get it. The true meaning lands, it resonates. So my biggest reminder friends, whether you are a Wicked fan or not, is to remain open to the lessons out there. You never know how or when it will land for you.
