Having Integrity, Showing Integrity

blog cover image with RC Farrish; topic is Having Integrity, Showing IntegrityHi, GSD Factor friends! R.C. Farrish here!

This month in Life Skills class, we are focused on the word and meaning of integrity. The definition that my teacher shared is, “Having integrity means being honest and fair.”

We have discussed that this is a good character trait to have and something that we should always strive for. We have talked about the importance of being honest. Being honest is hard and there may be consequences to us telling the truth.

My Mom always talks about finding opportunities to exercise certain muscles and apparently integrity is a muscle. We talked about times at school for me to show integrity. One time I spilled some water on the floor and I ran to the bathroom to get paper towels. However when I came back another kid was getting in trouble for my mess. I went up to the adult and told them it was my mess that I was cleaning up and not my classmate.

My Mom shared a time that she used her integrity at work. She was in a meeting and the boss was sharing what I’ll call a glow moment (read my blog last month here) and was congratulating my Mom for this glow. However it was another person who got that stuff done that time, not my Mom. So she politely interrupted the boss and gave credit to the work person who had done the good thing. She made sure the right person got the glow moment. My Mom said that made her feel really good. She also said that now she and that work person are friends. Awe, how nice.

So friends, how are you doing the right thing? Don’t forget to be honest, be fair, and be kind. Work that integrity muscle!

Be sure to check out the visual storybook of my GSD Factor Juniors book which is narrated by me! The sparkling gems is my favorite part!

Ok bye!
