Hi, GSD Factor friends! R.C. Farrish here!
I love sports! I love playing sports and I play a lot of them. I also love watching sports with my family.
I play softball, basketball, flag football, karate, swimming, running and I’m learning to ice skate.
Right now it’s basketball season and this has been my first season playing. It has been fun to learn and play but it’s also been hard. This past weekend’s game was more of a wrestling match versus a basketball game. I got bumped in the eye, hit on my arm, and my knee got stepped on after I was pushed to the ground. But each time I got up and got back in the game. I could hear my Mom yelling from the bleachers to shake it off and that I was ok. I always laugh when she says shake it off because it reminds me of the Taylor Swift song from the movie Sing.
I noticed that some of the girls on my team didn’t get back up and shake it off. They got really mad and upset. I took the chance to listen to them and then encourage them to get back in the game. I love coaching because I think coaches can be the biggest cheerleaders.
I also noticed that girls from both teams got really mad and sometimes yelled at each other and even yelled at the refs. I had a long talk with my Mom about this after the game. She explained that in sports each team is after the same goal, to win the game. But what’s more important is how we win the game. Were we a good teammate? Were we a good competitor? Being a good competitor means giving our best effort, playing the games by the rules, and being respectful to everyone. As my Mom likes to say, we learn what to do and what not to do in life and this weekend’s basketball game definitely gave me some what not to do lessons.
Be sure to check out the visual storybook of my GSD Factor Juniors book which is narrated by me! The sparkling gems is my favorite part!
Ok bye!
